When you think of the great golf resorts of the world, it’s easy to drift into exotic places like Hawaii or golf-rich locales in the United Kingdom. But the truth is that there are plenty of terrific golf locations right under our nose.

One that comes to mind is Grand Cypress Resort in Orlando, Fla. Grand Cypress certainly gets respect by those in the know, but because we’re more apt to think Mickey Mouse than great golf when you talk about Central Florida, I’m not sure Grand Cypress gets its just due.

In fact, when you think of great Jack Nicklaus-designed golf courses, this should always be in the discussion. The resort has hosted numerous professional events, and there are 45 holes to please everybody’s taste. From the classic Florida golf offered on the North, South and East courses (which have been undergoing renovations) to the wonderfully contrived New Course that pays tribute the Old Course in St. Andrews, the golf at Grand Cypress is simply wonderful.

Couple that with plenty to do in the area like Disney World, Universal Studios, spring training baseball and nice weather – plus add the amenities of Grand Cypress like its restaurants, hotel and villas and pools and spa – and you’ve got a great golf vacation.

Right now, Grand Cypress has got a couple of package deals going. One is the Grand Cypress Resort Eat, Play, Sleep Golf Package, which includes unlimited golf on 45 holes, meals and luxury accommodation starting at $229 per night per person. Or you can check out the Grand Cypress Resort Stay and Play package, which comes with 18 holes a day and lodging at the villas, starting at $189. Either way, it’s world class golf at a world class resort, and both packages run to the end of the year.
