The Lyle Anderson Company, the same firm that developed Desert Highlands, Desert Mountain, and Superstition Mountain, presents 36 holes of Jack Nicklaus Signature golf. The Sunrise Golf Course, which opened in 1993, is Jack Nicklaus’ 100th career design and it is joined by a second 18-hole layout, the Sunset Course, opened in 2000.
The courses feature five tee boxes at each hole to allow playability for a wide variety of golfers. Elevated tees permit inspiring views of the surrounding mountains and ever-changing sky. The golf course design at Las Campanas is a significant departure from the concepts Jack has employed in the past. A new, gentler approach is coupled to his sensitivity for preserving the character of the land.
Sitting at an elevation of nearly 7,000 feet, the views at Las Campanas are spectacular, with snowcapped mountains, pinon pines, juniper trees and gently rolling hills. And from spring through fall, fields of yellow, blue and purple wildflowers carpet the landscape. The courses are the centerpiece of a private, 4,700-acre residential development that is located just 10 miles from the downtown Plaza of Santa Fe, which is regarded as the country’s third largest art markets with more than 200 galleries lining the streets.
“I’m very enthusiastic about my concepts here. It’s going to be an unbelievably fun golfing experience for every player. I think we’re creating something so different and so unique that I might like to play it every day of the year.” – Jack Nicklaus
