Course Overview

Designed by Golf Course Architect Pete Dye with Jack Nicklaus serving as a design consultant, the par-71 Harbour Town Golf links first opened for play in time for the inaugural 1969 Heritage Golf Classic, now sponsored by RBC and known as the RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing.

Called “nothing short of a work of art” by Sports Illustrated magazine, Harbour Town holds many honors. Among those are a ranking in the top three American courses built since 1962 by the American Society of Golf Course Architects, and Golf Magazine’s inclusion in the top 30 courses in the world.

Measuring 7,101 yards from the Heritage tees with a slope of 147, Harbour Town is not considered long by today’s standards. Players, however, should not be deceived by numbers alone. The course has unique character, reminiscent of some of the old Scottish courses which require perfectly positioned shots. Sculpted from 300 acres of live oaks, pines and magnolias, Harbour Town’s towering trees have tormented many golfers over the years. The golfer who hits his drive to the wrong side of the fairway will find himself planning approaches over and around the trees, over and over again.
