PGTI Ahmedabad Masters to tee off on March 31

The Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), the official sanctioning body of professional golf in India, will stage the second edition of the PGTI Ahmedabad Masters presented by Kalhaar Blues & Greens from March 31, 2015, to April 3, 2015. The fifth tournament of the 2015 PGTI season, carrying a prize purse of Rs. 40 lakh, will be played at the Kalhaar Blues & Greens golf course in Ahmedabad, one of India’s premier championship courses and one of only two Nicklaus Design layouts in the country. A Pro-Am will be played on April 4, 2015.

The tournament field includes Asian Tour regulars Gaganjeet Bhullar, SSP Chawrasia, Rashid Khan, Himmat Singh Rai, Rahil Gangjee and Chikkarangappa, as well as 2014 Rolex Rankings champion Shankar Das. Other standouts in the field are Chiragh Kumar, Om Prakash Chouhan, Harendra Gupta, and Rolex Rankings leader Mukesh Kumar.

The leading foreign players in the field are Mithun Perera, N Thangaraja, Anura Rohana and K Prabagaran of Sri Lanka; Kunal Bhasin of Australia; and Md Zamal Hossain Mollah of Bangladesh.

In a bid to encourage local participation and raise the tournament’s caliber, Kalhaar Blues and Greens has nominated Ahmedabad-based amateur golfers Anshul Patel, Varun Parikh and Jay Pandya to pose a stiff challenge.

Kalhaar Blues & Greens is a world-class championship course developed by the Navratna Group and designed by Nicklaus Design, a company founded by legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus. The par-72 course complies with United States Golf Association specifications. Spread over 175 acres and playing to 7,425 yards from the championship tees, it is the longest golf course in India. The layout offers unique challenges such as sand and beach bunkers and 14 water bodies. The course also features a scenic “island green” on Hole No. 7, a 174 yard, par-3. Kalhaar Blues & Greens was named the Best Golf Course of India at The Take Solutions India Golf Awards in 2015.
