Penati Golf Resort, which opened earlier this year and became the first Nicklaus Design course in Slovakia, has won two awards that laud the club’s environmental approach to development—the Enviro Building of the Year Oscar and the Absolute Enviro Oscar. The Fifth Annual National Enviro Competition in Slovakia was the main event accompanying an international film festival on Sustainable Development. The new Absolute Enviro Oscar award category recognized a special area dedicated to European relevance.
The Legend Course at Penati Golf Resort is the first of two 18-hole courses to open at the club, and brings Nicklaus Design’s global design footprint to 36 countries worldwide. The course is the centerpiece of a community that offers leisure activities throughout the year, with lakes, cycling and cross-country trails, and a playground.
Penati Golf Resort was recognized for its environmental stewardship in front of the Minister of Environment of the Slovak Republic, Peter Marko Hren; Minister of Agriculture and Regional Development, Lubomir Jahnatek; Vice Bratislava Region, Bert Martin; Bratislava Mayor Milan Ftacnik; as well as other prominent political and economic leaders. The ceremony was broadcast live on Slovak TV.
A jury of experts selected the winners out of more than 70 applications. Other award categories recognized environmental products, technologies, cities, ideas, personalities, and more.
