Widely regarded as the world’s leading design firm, Nicklaus Design recently joined Audubon Lifestyles and the International Sustainability Council (ISC-Audubon) as a Platinum Member. In doing so, Nicklaus Design joins an organization that helps foster sustainability by working with, and providing educational resources to individuals, businesses, organizations, universities, government entities, municipalities, communities, neighborhoods, and virtually anyone seeking assistance to balance the triple bottom line of people, profit, and planet where they live, work, and play.
”The environment has always been and remains the number one consideration when Nicklaus Design does a golf course,” said Jack Nicklaus, founder of Nicklaus Design. “First of all, you have regulations and restrictions—I prefer to call them environmental opportunities—and you work within those. But playing golf and being outside during a round of golf, and being part of the environment, is why we enjoy the game so much. There are no changes I have to make as a designer. We just need to be aware of the conditions and the environment that might be specific to that area and make sure we are responsible and good stewards of the land.”
Funds generated through memberships and donations are used by ISC-Audubon to provide fruit and vegetable seeds, wildflower seed mix, and wildlife feed and birdseed to urban and suburban communities around the world. These seeds are used by communities to establish fruit and vegetable gardens, and bird and wildlife sanctuaries, as well as for the beautification of urban and suburban landscapes by creating flower and native plant gardens.
R. Eric Dodson, Executive Director for ISC-Audubon said, “We are very excited to welcome Nicklaus Design into the ISC-Audubon family. Nicklaus Design has shown that they are willing to become a global leader and advocate of sustainable causes by becoming a Platinum Member, and are leading by example. Their commitment and efforts in promoting sustainability on a global scale are to be commended.”
Nicklaus Design is headquartered in North Palm Beach, Fla., but has offices or representation in as many as 12 different countries, including China, Korea, Belgium, Mexico and South Africa. ISC-Audubon Platinum Membership provides businesses like Nicklaus Design with a vast pool of resources to assist them with all of their sustainability efforts, and also allows for participation in Sustainability Certification Programs.
