Blake tops Cook in playoff to win Songdo Championship at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea

INCHEON, South Korea (AP) – Jay Don Blake beat fellow American John Cook on the fifth playoff hole at the Songdo IBD Championship Sunday for his first Champions Tour victory.

The pair both shot a 68 in the final round to finish tied on 13-under 203 with Mark O’Meara and Australian Peter Senior at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea. O’Meara and Senior were eliminated from the playoff after bogeys on the third, and Blake secured the title with a 10-foot birdie on the fifth.

It was a reversal of fortunes for Cook, who beat Blake in a playoff at the Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am in April.

"It’s not like I was out to get revenge but it’s kind of nice to even the score and take him down," Blake said. "It’s a big relief to win and feel like I can compete again and get it done."

Blake had a chance to win it on the 18th hole in regulation but missed a 15-footer for birdie.

Senior shot a final-round 64 to reach the playoff — equaling the course record — while O’Meara had a 67.

Overnight leader Michael Allen shot a 75 and fell back to 7 under to finish in a tie for sixth.
