The Golden Bear entertains guests with exhibition round at Old Corkscrew Golf Club
Old Corkscrew Golf Club celebrated its official opening February 23 as Jack Nicklaus hosted a first tee ceremony and played 18 holes in an exhibition round complete with commentary.
Old Corkscrew Golf Club is Southwest Florida’s only stand-alone Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course, a 275-acre site located approximately seven miles east of I-75 on the south side of Corkscrew Road in Estero. The club is not affiliated with any real estate development.
The invitation-only event introduced the new Audubon-certified course which Nicklaus created to blend perfectly with the natural Florida environment and provide a challenging, enjoyable golf experience for players of all levels.
The par 72 Championship layout plays to 7,400 yards and meets the highest design criteria. The first players have commented that they appreciate the social aspects at Old Corkscrew – gracefully varied topography and a spacious layout create easy groupings of golfers who can get together on the course, watch each other play, and enjoy a sense of camaraderie. A state-of-the-art practice facility is continuously in peak tournament conditions.
Every golf cart is equipped with the most advanced GPS system for more accurate, strategic play.
An attractively outfitted modular structure currently houses the Club while construction is underway for a beautifully designed, elegant Clubhouse that will be a spectacular centerpiece. Luxurious, relaxed furnishings and impeccable interior design will create a warm, welcoming atmosphere. A fully stocked pro shop will offer the latest in golf fashion and equipment. The restaurant will offer delicious cuisine and a full-service bar.
Old Corkscrew is a private club offering diverse membership options, professional instruction, corporate and individual ownerships and tournament play.
