Victoria, B.C.’s Bear Mountain Resort has named PGA Tour golfer Jim Rutledge as its playing professional.
Rutledge, 47, was born in Victoria and continues to make his home there along with his wife Jill and son Ryan. Rutledge joined the Canadian Tour in 1978 and this year is making his debut on the PGA circuit. The Victoria-based pro golfer has also played in the European, Asian and Nationwide tours and has represented Canada in both the World Cup and Dunhill Cup.
“Watching Jim fulfill his dream is inspirational for all of us at Bear Mountain,” says the resort’s president and CEO, Len Barrie. “He knows he has a huge cheering section up here on the mountain and across Vancouver Island. We just wanted to do our part by supporting him as much as possible.”
Both Rutledge and Bear Mountain Resort have helped cement Vancouver Island’s reputation as a top destination for world-class golf. Their partnership underscores Bear Mountain Resort’s commitment to maintaining the region’s legacy of athletic excellence.
