A round of golf at Nicklaus Design’s Escena Golf Club will be fun for everyone and easy on the wallet, according to GOLF Magazine, who named Escena the No. 1 Best Value in Palm Springs, Calif., in a feature for “The Traveling Golfer” in the magazine’s February 2007 issue.
Escena Golf Club, a 7,173-yard, par-72 layout created by lead designer Bill O’Leary and Design Associate Jon Garner, and managed by Troon Golf, also received recognition recently by Golf Inc., coming in at No. 43 on the magazine’s list of the Top 50 New Courses 2006.
Old Works Golf Course, a highly acclaimed Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course in Anaconda, Mont., was also recognized for its outstanding value by GOLF Magazine, securing a spot on “Cheap Shots,” a list of the 10 Best Bargains in the United States. In addition to the Best Bargain recognition, Old Works was named to GOLF Magazine‘s Top 100 Courses You Can Play in the September 2006 issue of the magazine.
After a survey of its readers, GOLF Magazine found that 72 percent of people spend less than $50 per round of golf. In order to be considered, courses ranked on GOLF Magazine‘s list must have had green fees of less than $50.
From affordable hot spots in the United States to luxurious international resorts, Nicklaus Design had it covered in this issue of GOLF Magazine, with a ranking of the Top 10 International Resorts. Mexico’s One & Only Palmilla, featuring 27 holes of Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf, was named to that list. Palmilla Golf Club also earned a spot on BEST’s Golf Guide’s 2006 list of the Top 30 Golf Courses in Mexico.
Along with Palmilla on the magazine’s list was Mission Hills Resort in China. Mission Hills Resort is home to 10 golf courses, including the Jack Nicklaus-designed World Cup Course.
